Director Mario Escobar 

Was Born in Escobares, Texas & presently resides in Crystal City, Texas.  Is a 1968 graduate of Roma High School.  He attended & graduated from Texas A & I University at Kingsville, Texas in 1974.  A 13-year venture began in 1974 with the Soil Conservation Service.  Pursuing his career path he went on to the USDA, - APHIS, Plant Protection Quarantine division in 1987.  After a tour of 16 years with the USDA, Mr. Escobar, moved on to Homeland Security in 2003 where he eventually retired in January of 2007. 
       
Mr. Escobar has owned and operated a farm and ranch business of his own since 1983.
He continues to stay active in Community based Organizations including the Texas/Mexico Border Coalition, Zavala County Farm Bureau, Southwest Goat Producers, Winter Garden Soil and Water Conservation District, Knights of Columbus, & Crystal City Economic Development Corp 4-A.
